The History

The Journal of Societal and Social Policy was set up in 2002 by Prof. Christian Aspalter, in the attempt
to support the publication of Social Policy articles with a broader, interdisciplinary and policy-related perspective.

The Journal of Societal and Social Policy, the Journal has received widespread support from different regions of Asia
(e.g. the Middle East, South Asia, East Asia), Europe, North America, and Australia. The Journal is supported by the
Asian Association for Social Welfare, which was set up in 2006 by leading social welfare academics and pioneers
from around Asia.

Nature and Aims of the Journal

Journal of Societal and Social Policy
is a refereed academic journal, that has set itself highest standards
for the development of theory building, descriptive and normative articles in a wider range of social policy topics.
The Journal aims at acquisitioning works by long-established scholars as well as younger scholars, both of which
are sought to contribute cutting-edge theoretical and empirical studies. Authors are encouraged to submit articles
that intertwine theory with practice while also, if possibly, emphasizing the interface between Social Policy and
other social sciences, like Public Policy, Political Science, Sociology, Social Work, Economics, Anthropology,
Geography, and History. The Journal also supports new critical, constructive theoretical thinking and theorybuilding,
as it supports a competitive academic spirit that is essential for the good of any theory, stream of thinking,
or school of thought, while also emphasizing the importance of empirical testing.
