OUR HISTORY

 

· Inauguration of the "Asian Association for Social Welfare"

Zhuhai (Pearl Sea) City, April 27-30, 2006.

The Inaugural Conference was organized under the theme of "The State of Social Welfare in Asia". The conference was attended by leading social policy and social work experts from around Asia. The Inaugural Conference received widespread media coverage in China.

The conference set out to connect the different parts of Asia, forming a new trans-Asian network that allows the sharing of experiences and research outcomes with regard to social problems, social work, social development and social policies.


The newly found network also aims to work intensively through publications and media coverage (e.g. at conferences) to create better awareness for social problems and social policy solutions, and facilitate consultation to government institutions, think tanks, and NGOs in all parts of Asia, and globally.

The conference theme centred on "Social Cohesion in the Society: Imperative of the 21st Century ".

Surgut & Kanthi Maniisk, Siberia, Russian Federation, June 26-28, 2008.
The conference theme centred on "Modern Families and Social Service: Bridges of Collaboration and Mutual Understanding".

 

· KSSA-AASW Joint Conference on "Sharing Experience of Social Security in the North and South - Searching for Directions of the Development of Social Security in the Asian Countries"

Yeouido, Seoul, Korea, November 21, 2008
Leaders from the World Bank, the Korean Pension Research Institute, The Korean Health Insurance, Korean Development Institute, and a number of government research institutes and universities in Asia and Europe have contributed to this expert conference.
